27% higher AOV on the orders that use the app
"This has increased the average order value of those particular orders by twenty seven percent. So the ability to have that has not only decreased our customer service tickets, but it's also increased our revenue."
— Joy Young, Ecommerce & Marketing Manager, Beards & Daisies
That's the case for treating post-purchase as a surface rather than a support function.
The "double-dash" email upsell, that prints cash
"There's still space in your package"
The frame is space, not spending. The strongest version of this creative doesn't ask anyone to buy more. It tells them their box isn't full yet. They've already paid for the delivery, so the marginal cost of one more plant is genuinely lower now than it will be tomorrow.
The deadline is real. Most countdown timers in ecommerce are theatre. Urgency that's structurally true reads differently from urgency that's been manufactured, and customers are better at telling them apart than most brands assume.
The ask is "add", not "buy". The hard threshold was crossed at checkout, when they decided to trust the brand with their card. Adding to an existing order asks them to cross nothing.
And the timing can't be improved on. They're in the short window where they still feel good about the purchase and haven't yet stopped thinking about it.
That's why nearly half of Beards & Daisies' upsell revenue lands in the edit window rather than at checkout. It gives customers a reason to open a door they'd otherwise only use when something had gone wrong.
"This has increased the average order value of those particular orders by twenty-seven percent."
Results the team is tracking
Beards & Daisies runs two active upsell strategies, both carefully targeted: One for real plants using collection and related-product logic, one for artificial using search queries.

Why customers love it
"The fact that it's autonomous and they can do it without needing to contact customer service is super positive from their end. But we get quite a few nice messages on it actually on a weekly basis."
"Overall it's been just over twenty times return on investment. It does what it says on the tin which is always great."
