British sportswear brand Castore, which has grown to £340m making performance kit and running official team stores including Mercedes-AMG F1, uses Order Editing across its storefronts to cut edit tickets and lift AOV.

“Order Editing have been a key part of our tech stack for the last twelve months.”

The challenge: order edits across a portfolio of storefronts

Castore doesn't run one store. It runs performance kit under its own label plus official stores for the teams it partners with, including Mercedes-AMG F1, Everton Football Club, Rugby Australia, and Red Bull Racing.

That multiplies a familiar problem. Every storefront generates its own post-purchase edit requests, and every one of them lands on the same support team. Anything that has to be rolled out, configured and maintained per store carries a cost most single-brand merchants never see.

"Size and variant changes after checkout, shipping address corrections before dispatch, and adding items to an order already placed were simply edits we couldn't make. Order Editing integrated with our fulfilment systems, ERP and iPaaS and made it possible. Self-service."

At the same time Castore wanted to lift AOV at checkout and after purchase, without adding another app per storefront to do it.

Solving the problem with Order Editing

Castore wanted customers to fix their own orders inside a defined window before the order reached fulfilment, with upsells surfacing at checkout and post-purchase on the same infrastructure.

  1. Customer completes checkout on Shopify
  2. Order Editing opens a 15-minute self-serve edit window; the order is held back from Patchworks
  3. Customers edit their order; checkout and post-purchase upsells surface alongside
  4. Changes sync to Shopify and the finalised order releases downstream

It went live in 72 hours.

That number is doing more work than it looks. It was published by a Head of Technology — the person paid to be sceptical about anything new touching checkout, and the one who carries the cost when an integration drags. "A complete no-brainer" from that seat is a statement about implementation risk before it's a statement about features.

Results the team is tracking

Over the last 365 days Castore has reduced tickets related to editing by 93%, upsold 1.2% of orders, and returned 10.4x on its investment in Order Editing.

Andy puts the same period in volume terms:

"Since going live with Order Editing, we have thousands of customer edits a month that the CX team aren't having to deal with. Upsell revenue from those edits is upwards of ten thousand pounds additional revenue a month that we weren't seeing as a business."

The two panel numbers worth reading together are the last two. A 1.2% upsell rate is modest — roughly one order in eighty — and it still returns 10.4x. That matters more than a spectacular conversion figure would, because it means the economics don't depend on customers behaving unusually. A prospect running this maths against their own volume doesn't need to believe in a best case.

The 93% is also proof of self-serve rather than a better support dashboard. An app that still needs an agent in the loop cannot produce that number.

"Order Editing gives us the ability to let those customers look after themselves and to engage with their order in a way that otherwise they wouldn't be able to. So the pure time save and efficiency saving there is absolutely massive for us — and then the upsell opportunity there is kind of the added bonus."
