Organization

Control Draft and Live status, staff access, notifications, and organization settings.

Find Organization settings

Open App Settings, select Global settings, then open Organization.

Use this page to control whether Order Editing is in Draft or Live mode and to manage access, notifications, AI features, integrations, and your recent configuration history.

Choose Draft or Live

Status

What customers see

When to use it

Draft

Customer-facing Order Editing features are limited to the staff email addresses or domains you approve.

Use Draft while installing, configuring, and testing the app.

Live

Eligible customers can use the features you have enabled.

Use Live only after you have completed an end-to-end test.

To change the status:

  1. Open App status.
  2. Select Draft or Live.
  3. Review the visibility summary shown for that status.
  4. Select Save.

Draft mode needs at least one staff email address or domain. Add your test access before saving Draft mode.

Add staff email domains

Staff email domains let your team test customer-facing features while the app is in Draft mode.

  1. Open Staff Email Domains.
  2. Enter a complete staff email address or a domain, such as person@example.com or example.com.
  3. Add every merchant, agency, or development-team domain that needs access.
  4. Save your changes.

Use an order associated with one of the approved email addresses or domains when checking Draft-mode access. Staff email domains do not limit normal customers after the app is Live.

Configure developer notifications

Open Developer Notifications to set up technical and operational alerts.

Setting

What it controls

Developer Email

The address that receives developer notifications when the related settings are updated.

Let Order Editing post timeline comments when an order is edited

Adds edit details to the order timeline in Shopify admin. This can make testing and investigation easier.

Payment capture failure notification email

The address that receives payment-capture failure notifications when this advanced setting is available.

Use a monitored team address rather than an individual address if several people support the store.

Configure customer email notifications

Open Email Notifications to review the messages Order Editing can send to customers. The available settings cover:

  • confirmation after an order edit;
  • invoices when an edit adds an outstanding balance;
  • an unpaid-invoice reminder after two hours;
  • confirmation after a customer cancels an order;
  • notifications when an unpaid or otherwise invalid edit is automatically reversed.

Enable only the messages that fit your existing Shopify and marketing-email setup. Then complete one representative edit on an existing controlled order and confirm the customer does not receive duplicate messages.

Review AI features and integrations

Use AI Features to review the AI-assisted features available to the store. Use Integrations to manage connections exposed on the Organization page. The exact controls can depend on the apps and features enabled for your store.

Review recent storefront changes

Open Recent Storefront Changes to inspect recent Order Editing configuration changes. Use this history when a customer experience changes unexpectedly or when several staff members manage the app.

Test before switching to Live

  1. Keep the app in Draft.
  2. Open an existing eligible order associated with an approved staff email address. If you do not have one, create one low-value controlled order and reuse it throughout the launch checks.
  3. Open the customer order experience and check every editing block you plan to offer.
  4. Complete any additional payment, refund, cancellation, hold, and notification flows that apply to your setup.
  5. Confirm Shopify and your fulfilment or integration systems receive the final order correctly.
  6. Return to Organization, select Live, and save.

For a complete launch test, follow Testing Your Setup and Going Live.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add more than one staff domain?

Yes. Add every domain that needs Draft-mode access. This is useful when the merchant team and an external agency both need to test.

Why can a tester not see Order Editing in Draft mode?

Confirm the order uses an email address from an approved domain. Then confirm the relevant Shopify app block is installed and the editing window is still open.

Do timeline comments change the order?

No. They provide an audit trail in the Shopify order timeline. They do not apply another edit.
