How we integrate
Most fulfilment and shipping platforms work with Order Editing in one of three ways. Each one makes sure your platform only sees the final, edited order, not the original.
- Delayed payment capture: we hold payment until the editing window closes, so your platform only imports the order once it's paid and locked in.
- Order hold: we place a hold on the order and release it when the editing window closes.
- Order tag: we tag orders during the editing window so your platform skips them until editing is done.

Using a 3PL or warehouse system?
Some fulfilment platforms build their own direct connection to Shopify. Others run on a third-party warehouse management system (WMS), order management system (OMS), integration platform (iPaaS), or enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that handles the Shopify connection for them. In those cases, compatibility depends on the underlying system, not the platform itself.

Setup varies by platform. Sync timing, payment capture rules, and which edits are supported all depend on how your platform connects to Shopify. You don't need to figure it out alone.

Common questions
Will Order Editing break my fulfilment flow?
No. Order Editing is designed to sit alongside your fulfilment setup. When configured correctly, your platform pulls the edited order, not the original, so the warehouse picks and packs the right items.
What if my platform pulls orders the moment they're placed?
This is where delayed payment capture comes in. By holding payment until the editing window closes, your platform only sees the order once edits are locked in.
Do I need to change anything on the platform's side?
Sometimes. A few platforms need a setting toggled, for example to hold unpaid orders, so edits flow through correctly. We'll flag this when you reach out, and coordinate with your platform if needed.
What if my platform isn't listed?
