What Customers Can Change on a Pickup Order

Understand pickup-to-shipping changes and when your team must handle a different pickup location.

Pickup location and shipping are different changes

The Allow pickup orders to switch to shipping setting lets a customer add a shipping address and view eligible delivery rates. It is not a picker for another pickup store.

If a customer wants a different pickup location, have your team review the order with the pickup or fulfillment provider. Do not tell the customer to enter the new store as a shipping address to move the pickup assignment.

Allow a switch to shipping

  1. Open App Settings > Global settings > Shipping Recalculation in Order Editing.
  2. Select Pickup Orders on the Delivery page.
  3. Enable Allow pickup orders to switch to shipping.
  4. Save the setting.

The order must still meet your editing, shipping and payment restrictions. Review the result with your pickup and fulfillment apps before offering this path to customers.

Check the handoff

Use an existing eligible pickup order under your team's control. Check the shipping address, available delivery rate, any added payment, Shopify's final delivery information and the provider's fulfillment assignment.

If the customer needs another pickup location, provide Support with the order number, current and requested locations, pickup provider and fulfillment state. Your team can then agree on the supported handling for that order.
