Bundle Editing

Control how customers edit bundled products during the editing window, including product swapping rules and bundle app integrations.

Bundle Editing

Bundle Editing controls how customers interact with bundled products during post-purchase editing. Choose whether customers can modify bundle contents, restrict product swaps by price, and connect your preferred bundle app integration.

You'll find this at Settings > Bundle Editing.

💡 Not sure where to start? Most merchants should select Disallow bundle line item edits. This keeps things simple by preventing customers from modifying bundle contents while still allowing them to add or remove entire bundles from their order.

If you use one of our supported bundle integrations, you can connect it below for more control. If you're unsure what's right for your setup, reach out to the Order Editing support team via chat and we'll help you with guidance.

Customer Experience

The customer experience setting determines what customers can do with bundle line items during the editing window. Choose one of four modes:

Mode

What Customers Can Do

Disallow bundle line item edits

Customers cannot modify bundle contents at all. The bundle appears as a locked unit in the editing experience.

Allow bundle line item edits

Customers can freely edit bundle contents, including swapping products and changing quantities within the bundle.

Enable product switching (same price only)

Customers can swap products within the bundle, but only for alternatives at the same price point. This preserves the original order value.

Enable product switching (same or lower price)

Customers can swap products within the bundle for alternatives at the same price or lower. This prevents the bundle total from increasing while still giving customers flexibility.

Supported Integrations

Order Editing supports bundle editing with three bundle apps. Each integration has its own toggle and configuration page under Settings > Bundle Editing. You only need to connect the bundle app you're actively using.

Roadmap Bundles

Enable the integration to allow customers to edit orders containing Roadmap Bundles products. When connected, bundles are displayed as a grouped item showing the parent product along with all component items.

Question

Answer

Can customers add or remove individual items?

No. Customers cannot modify individual items within a Roadmap Bundle. The bundle must be edited as a complete unit. Customers can change the quantity of the entire bundle or remove it from their order.

How does bundle pricing work with order edits?

Bundle pricing is preserved during order edits. The configured bundle price applies when the quantity changes, and any bundle discounts or special pricing rules are correctly applied to the edited order.

Are partial bundle edits supported?

No. Roadmap Bundles maintains the bundle structure during order editing. To get different items, customers would need to remove the bundle and add products separately.

Shopify Bundles

Enable the integration to allow customers to edit orders containing Shopify bundle products. When connected, bundles are displayed as a single grouped item with all component products listed underneath.

Question

Answer

Can customers add or remove individual items?

No. Bundles must be edited as a complete unit to maintain the bundle's integrity and pricing. Customers can remove the entire bundle or change the bundle quantity.

How does bundle pricing work with order edits?

Bundle pricing is preserved. The price is calculated based on your Shopify Bundle configuration, and any changes to the bundle quantity will correctly recalculate the total price. Discounts applied to bundles are also maintained.

Are partial bundle edits supported?

No. Since bundles are sold as complete packages, customers can only modify the bundle as a whole. To change individual components, the customer would need to remove the bundle and add individual products separately.

Simple Bundles

Enable the integration to allow customers to edit orders with your Simple Bundles app. When connected, the bundle parent product is shown with its component items listed underneath.

Question

Answer

Can customers add or remove individual items?

No. Individual bundle components cannot be added or removed separately. Simple Bundles must be managed as a complete unit. Customers can adjust the quantity of the entire bundle or remove it completely from their order.

How does bundle pricing work with order edits?

Bundle pricing configured in Simple Bundles is maintained during order edits. When customers change the bundle quantity, the price adjusts according to your Simple Bundles pricing rules. Any bundle-specific discounts remain applied.

Are partial bundle edits supported?

No. The bundle structure defined in the Simple Bundles app is preserved during order editing. Customers who want different components would need to remove the bundle and purchase items individually.

ℹ️ Note: If you're not using any of these apps, bundle editing settings won't apply to your orders.

FAQ

What happens if I don't connect a bundle integration?

Without a connected integration, Order Editing treats bundled products as individual line items. The customer experience mode won't apply, and bundle-specific editing rules won't be enforced.

Can customers edit bundles on subscription orders?

No. Customers cannot modify, remove, or swap subscription line items, including those within bundles. They can add a new non-subscription product as a one-time purchase. These restrictions apply regardless of your subscription platform (Recharge, Skio, etc.).

How do I lock specific bundles while allowing edits on others?

The customer experience mode applies globally to all bundles. To lock specific bundles, add the editing-disabled tag to the products in those bundles. This blocks edits on tagged items while leaving other bundles open to your global rule. See Editing Restrictions for details.

Do all three integrations behave the same way?

The core behaviour is the same: bundles are displayed as grouped items, partial edits aren't supported, and pricing is preserved. The main differences are in how each app structures bundles internally. Connect whichever app you use and Order Editing handles the rest.
