How Order Editing billing works

Order Editing subscriptions are billed through Shopify. Your plan covers the core order-editing and upsell product, and its price is based on your store's monthly order volume.

Order Editing does not take a percentage of edited order value or upsell revenue. Address Validation is an optional add-on with its own billing arrangement.

Open Apps > Order Editing > App Settings > Plan & billing to review your current plan, recent order volume, Address Validation charges, and renewal information.

When a store has no plan, Order Editing uses its Shopify order count from the last 30 days to suggest a starting tier. Point-of-sale orders are excluded from that on-screen count. Review the suggestion before starting the trial, or select Change plan to choose another tier.

A volume recommendation does not move an existing subscription automatically. The Current plan card shows the plan Shopify is billing. Use Change plan or contact support when the plan needs to change.

Some stores have an annual, legacy, enterprise, or privately agreed plan. In that case, the page shows the active Shopify charge or the private offer instead of treating a public ladder price as the account's contract.

What the subscription includes

Every subscription includes the core Order Editing product:

Checkout extensions, including checkout line-item editing, checkout Address Validation, and Checkout upsells, require Shopify Plus. Post-purchase editing, Thank You Page placements, and Order Status Page placements can be used without Shopify Plus.

Read the Plan & billing page

The page separates the live charge from the plan catalogue:

  • Current plan shows the plan name, price and billing interval, order-volume band, and orders processed in the last 30 days.
  • Plans shows the self-serve ladder and identifies the current plan when it belongs to that ladder.
  • Address Validation shows the optional add-on and its standard per-verification pricing.
  • Payment history links to Shopify's app-charge information. The actual invoice and payment method remain in Shopify billing.
  • The billing-cycle summary shows the plan charge, Address Validation usage when applicable, renewal date, and usage-cap progress.

For a subscribed store, open Manage subscription in the page title bar to access the available cancellation, support, and uninstall guidance. Changing or cancelling a Shopify charge can require Shopify approval.

Address Validation billing

Address Validation billing depends on the arrangement configured for the store:

  • Per verification: paid verifier checks use country-based rates and a monthly spending cap approved through Shopify.
  • Fixed monthly arrangement: eligible stores can have an agreed monthly Address Validation charge instead of usage charges.
  • Development or test access: the page can show test credits or development-store access rather than a normal paid arrangement.

Instant validation rules are free. They check conditions such as missing information, restricted regions, or formatting before a paid verifier is used.

For the standard per-verification arrangement, the public rates start at $0.01 USD for a United States address. The Address Validation card on Plan & billing is the current source for country rates. Set or adjust the monthly cap during billing setup. Paid verification pauses when the cap is reached; checkout and order editing continue.

The usage cap is a maximum, not a prepaid amount. Shopify bills actual eligible verifier usage up to that cap. Re-entering the same address in the same supported session can use a cached result instead of creating another paid check.

Payment history and taxes

Order Editing charges appear on the store's Shopify bill alongside other app charges. Open Shopify admin > Settings > Billing to review invoices, taxes, payment methods, and completed charges.

Prices shown by Order Editing are in USD. Shopify applies any relevant tax based on the store's billing details and shows the final amount on the Shopify bill.

Development stores

Eligible Shopify development stores can use Order Editing without a normal paid subscription for testing. Use that environment to check app blocks, integrations, order holds, and fulfilment behaviour before configuring a live store.

Each live Shopify store needs its own Order Editing installation, configuration, and subscription.

Onboarding support

Order Editing can affect customer accounts, order holds, payment capture, fulfilment timing, Shopify Flow, and third-party systems. Use onboarding support to review the complete release path before customer traffic is enabled.

A setup review can cover editing rules, app blocks, holds, payment capture, warehouse release, integrations, and controlled test orders. Contact support before launch when the store uses a 3PL, WMS, ERP, subscription platform, multiple warehouses, or custom fulfilment automation.

Get help with a billing question

Use Message support on Plan & billing when:

  • the current Shopify charge does not match the expected plan;
  • the recent order count appears wrong;
  • an enterprise or private offer needs review;
  • Address Validation shows the wrong billing arrangement;
  • a cancellation or plan change cannot be completed.

Include the store name, the plan or charge shown, and a screenshot of the relevant card. Do not send payment-card details.
