The Collection module shows products from a Shopify collection. It is useful when you want the product feed to update as your Shopify collection changes.
When to use it
Use Collection when the offer should pull from an ongoing product group instead of a fixed hand-picked list.
- Bestsellers, new arrivals, sale products, or gift guides.
- Category-specific accessories, such as skincare tools or shoe care.
- Evergreen product pools maintained in Shopify.
- Fallback strategies that need broad, reliable inventory.
Before you begin
Create or review the Shopify collection you want to use. Make sure it contains products that are active and available in the online store.
If you want exact product order, arrange the collection in Shopify and enable Use collection sort order in the module. If you want the offer to stay fresh, use Shuffle products instead.
Setup steps
- Open the upsell strategy you want to edit.
- In the Product modules section, click Add Module.
- Select Collection.
- Click Add Collection and choose the Shopify collection.
- Set Maximum Products. This controls how many products Order Editing can show from the collection.
- Choose the product order. Use Use collection sort order for Shopify's collection order, or Shuffle products to randomize products each time the collection upsell is shown.
- Optional: add a search query filter to narrow the collection by tag, vendor, product type, or keyword.
- Set the Recommended Quantity.
- Write Offer Text.
- Click Save.
Configuration options
Option | What it controls | Recommended approach |
Collection | The Shopify collection used as the product source. | Use a collection with a clear purpose, not your full catalog. |
Maximum Products | How many collection products can appear. | Start with a small number so the offer is easy to scan. |
Use collection sort order | Uses the product order saved on the Shopify collection. | Use it for manually merchandised collections, campaign collections, and gift guides. |
Shuffle products | Randomizes products each time the collection upsell is shown. | Use it for evergreen collections so customers don't always see the same products first. |
Search query filter | Narrows the selected collection further. | Use it for large collections or campaign-specific subsets. |
Recommendations
Use case | Recommended setup |
Always-on fallback | Use a broad collection with reliable stock, such as bestsellers. |
Seasonal campaign | Use a campaign collection and update it in Shopify as products change. |
Category add-ons | Combine the module with product or collection filters on the strategy. |
Large collection | Set a sensible maximum product count and use a query filter if needed. |
How to choose the collection
Use collections that already have a clear merchandising purpose. Bestsellers, accessories, travel sizes, refills, sale products, and new arrivals all work well.
Avoid using a very broad collection unless this module is only a fallback. Broad collections can make the offer feel generic.
Sort order and product count
Use Use collection sort order when your Shopify collection is manually ordered. This is useful for campaign collections and gift guides.
Set Maximum Products based on the placement. Smaller placements work better with fewer products. Larger product lists can use a higher limit.
When to shuffle products
Use Shuffle products for evergreen collections that run for a long time. Shuffling helps the offer feel less stale because the same products don't always appear first.
Don't use shuffle when the collection order is part of the merchandising strategy. For example, keep collection sort order for gift guides, launches, and priority campaigns.
Troubleshooting
No products appear
Check that the collection contains active products available in the online store. Also check Hidden Products and any query filters on the module.
Products appear in an unexpected order
Use Use collection sort order if you want Shopify collection order to control the module. Use Shuffle products if you want products randomized each time the collection upsell is shown.
Too many products appear
Lower Maximum Products, or narrow the module with a search query filter.
