The Upsell / Downsell module is used on the One-Click Upsell. It lets you show a primary product, then show a follow-up product when the customer accepts or declines.
When to use it
Use Upsell / Downsell when you want a focused post-purchase offer flow instead of a simple product list.
- Offer a premium product first, then a lower-priced alternative if the customer declines.
- Show a related follow-up product after the first product is accepted.
- Create a short, decision-based offer path.
- Use One-Click Upsell for a high-converting single-page offer.
Before you begin
This module is only available on the One-Click Upsell. Choose products that are easy to understand quickly, because customers see the offer immediately after checkout.

Configuration options
Option | What it controls | Recommended approach |
Main product | The first One-Click Upsell offer. | Use the product with the strongest order connection. |
Accept follow-up | The offer shown after the customer accepts. | Use it only when a second product naturally follows. |
Decline follow-up | The downsell shown after the customer declines. | Use a simpler, cheaper, or lower-commitment alternative. |
Offer settings | Text, discount, quantity, and variant choices per offer. | Keep each step simple and easy to accept or decline. |
Recommendations
Keep the flow simple. A strong main offer plus one sensible downsell usually performs better than a complicated sequence.
Flow | Recommended use |
Upsell only | Use when one product is clearly the best offer. |
Upsell then downsell | Use when a lower-priced backup offer makes sense after a decline. |
Accept follow-up | Use when accepting the first offer creates a natural second offer. |
Designing the offer path
Start with the highest-confidence offer. The first product should be easy to understand and clearly connected to the order.
Use a downsell when price, size, or commitment may stop customers from accepting. The downsell should feel like a useful alternative, not a random second product.
Good downsell patterns
A smaller pack, lower-priced accessory, lighter discount, or entry-level version can work well. Keep the message short because the customer is still in the post-purchase flow.
Troubleshooting
The module isn't available
Check that the strategy targets the One-Click Upsell. This module is not available on other placements.
The downsell doesn't show
Check that a decline follow-up product is selected and available. Also check that the customer actually declined the first offer.
