Setting Up Thank You Page Upsells

Before you begin

• Decide whether the offer belongs inside the main Order Editing block or in a standalone block.
• Confirm the products are active and available in the required markets.

The Thank You page is shown immediately after checkout. It is useful for recommendations while the purchase is fresh, but customers may not return to it later.

Choose the placement

The placements are separate. Installing the main Order Editing block does not install the standalone Product List Upsell block.

Create the strategy

1. Open Upsell Strategies.
2. Select Create Strategy > Create from scratch.
3. On Placements, choose either Product Carousel or Product List Upsell for the Thank You Page.
4. Complete Placement and Markets. In Upsell Strategy Name, enter the name and select Draft while you install and test the placement.
5. Under Customer Segment, keep All customers or add supported targeting.
6. Add and configure the product modules shown for the placement.
7. Configure offer copy, discount, quantity, and advanced controls where available.
8. Select Publish to save the strategy as Draft.

Use the Product Carousel when recommendations should feel part of order editing. Use Product List Upsell when you want a dedicated offer area independent of the main block.

Install the placement

Install Product Carousel

1. Open Shopify's checkout editor for the Thank You page.
2. Select Add app block.
3. Add Order Editing (Thank You Page).
4. Place it where customers can find it on desktop and mobile.
5. Select Save.

The Product Carousel appears inside that block when its strategy is eligible and returns products.

Install Product List Upsell

1. Open Shopify's checkout editor for the Thank You page.
2. Select Add app block where the standalone list should appear.
3. Add Product List Upsell (Thank You) from Order Editing.
4. Select Save.

Return to Order Editing and confirm the required surface is Active.

Preview and activate

1. Open the strategy and use Preview to check the product, price, discount, quantity, copy, and layout.
2. Open Shopify's checkout editor and switch to the Thank you page.
3. Confirm the intended Order Editing block appears in the correct position.
4. Review the block on desktop and mobile.
5. Save the checkout profile.
6. Set the strategy to Active and save it when both previews are approved.
7. Monitor the first impressions, paid upsells, and revenue after launch.

The strategy preview confirms offer content. Shopify's checkout editor confirms the installed block and page layout. Neither preview adds a product to an order.

Optional: test a real order update

Complete one controlled checkout only when you need to confirm the live Thank You journey, additional payment, or final Shopify order update. Continue directly to the Thank You page and accept the offer. A completed checkout is not required to review the strategy or block placement.

Troubleshooting

Product Carousel is missing

Confirm Order Editing (Thank You Page) is installed and the strategy uses the Product Carousel placement.

Product List Upsell is missing

Confirm Product List Upsell (Thank You) is installed and saved. It is not rendered by installing only the main Order Editing block.

The wrong products appear

Check the winning strategy, market, customer filters, module configuration, module order, inventory, hidden products, and purchased-product display settings.

The customer reaches Order Status instead

Open Shopify's checkout editor and confirm you are previewing the Thank you page, not Order status. The pages are different placements and need their own strategies and extensions. Use a new checkout only for an optional live end-to-end test because the Thank You page is shown immediately after checkout.
