Overview
Order Editing supports two upsell placements on the Thank You Page: the Product Carousel and the Product List Upsell. Both are available on every Shopify plan and can be used together.
The Product Carousel sits inside the main Order Editing app block. The Product List Upsell is a separate app block that lets you place a dedicated product recommendation section elsewhere on the Thank You Page.
Placements at a glance
Placement | Where it lives | Best for |
Product Carousel | Inside the main Order Editing app block. | Simple product recommendations beside order editing tools. |
Product List Upsell | A separate app block on the Thank You Page. | A more prominent recommendation section with strategy targeting. |
💡 Tip: Start with the Product Carousel for a quick win, then add a Product List Upsell when you want a dedicated targeted offer.

Customer targeting
Thank You Page upsells can target the products and order details available after checkout. Use targeting to show different products based on order value, products purchased, collections, product types, product tags, discount-code use, line item count, market, or product text such as title and SKU.
Use Show to all customers for broad recommendations. Use filters when you want different offers for different order types.
Filter group | Available filters | Use them to |
Order filters | Order Total, Discount Codes in Order, Discount Codes not in Order, Line Item Count. | Target by order value, discount-code use, or number of line items. |
Product filters | Products in Cart, Products not in Cart, Products in Collection, Products not in Collection, Products in Type, Products not in Type, Product Title Contains, SKU Contains, Product Tags. | Match or exclude offers based on what the customer bought, product categories, product type, title text, SKU text, or product tags. |
Market targeting is configured separately from the filter picker. Use market targeting when products should only appear for specific Shopify Markets, countries, currencies, product availability, or regional pricing rules.
ℹ️ Unavailable on Thank You Page upsells: Customer B2B, Customer Money Spent, Customer Orders Count, Customer Spending Tier, Shopify Segments, Order Tags, Cart Attribute, and Order Contains Subscription Items are not available for Thank You Page Product Carousel or Product List Upsell placements.

Appearance and placement
The Product Carousel appears inside the Order Editing app block. You can reorder it relative to other Order Editing blocks from App Blocks.
The Product List Upsell is positioned in the Shopify checkout editor. Place it where customers will see it after purchase without pushing important order information too far down the page.
Review the offer text, product image, button text, quantity settings, and discount display before going live.
Verify your setup
- Place a test order.
- Check the Thank You Page.
- Confirm the Product Carousel or Product List Upsell appears in the right position.
- Confirm the expected products show.
- Add an upsell product and check the add-to-order flow.
- If you use filters, test an order that matches and an order that does not match.
Track performance
After the placement receives traffic, monitor views, uptake, revenue, AOV Lift, and top recommended products from the Upsell Strategies page.
