The Group of Products module lets you curate a set of specific products. Customers see products in the order you arrange them.
When to use it
Use Group of Products when you want a hand-picked product feed, but one product is too narrow.
- A seasonal bundle, gift guide, or launch collection.
- A small list of accessories that pair with a purchased product.
- A bestsellers list where you want exact control.
- A controlled alternative to a broad Collection module.
Before you begin
Prepare the products you want to show. You can select up to 10 products in one group. If any selected product is hidden or has restricted variants, Order Editing shows a warning in the module editor.
Setup steps
- Open the upsell strategy you want to edit.
- In the Product modules section, click Add Module.
- Select Group of Products.
- Click Select products.
- Choose the products you want to include.
- Drag products into the order you want customers to see.
- For products with variants, use Manage variants if you only want selected variants to appear.
- Set the Recommended Quantity.
- Write Offer Text. For grouped offers, use copy that works for all products.
- Click Save.
Configuration options
Option | What it controls | Recommended approach |
Selected products | The products included in the group. | Keep the list tight and remove products that don't fit the offer. |
Product order | The order customers see products. | Put the clearest or highest-margin product first. |
Variant selection | Which variants can appear for each product. | Use it when some variants are unsuitable for the campaign. |
Offer Text | The message shown across the group. | Write copy that works for every product in the group. |
Recommendations
Keep the group focused. A short, deliberate list is easier for customers to scan than a long mixed list.
Goal | How to set it up |
Increase average order value | Start with higher-margin products and place the strongest item first. |
Promote a campaign | Use only campaign products and match the offer text to the campaign. |
Create a bundle feel | Use products from the same use case, such as care kit items or accessories. |
Avoid low-stock issues | Review selected products regularly, or use a Collection module instead. |
When to choose this over Collection
Choose Group of Products when the exact product list matters more than automatic updates. It is a good fit for a campaign, product launch, gift guide, or carefully ordered list.
Choose Collection when Shopify should manage the product pool. Collection is better for evergreen bestsellers, sale products, and large product groups.
How to order the products
Put the clearest product first. Customers should understand the offer from the first one or two products in the group.
Use the remaining products to add variety. For example, place the best-value item first, then show different colors, use cases, or price points after it.
Troubleshooting
A selected product is skipped
Check Hidden Products, product availability, and variant restrictions. A hidden or unavailable product won't appear to customers.
The products appear in the wrong order
Open the module and rearrange the selected products. The module uses the order saved in the editor.
The offer text feels too generic
Use grouped copy such as "Complete your order with these picks" instead of copy that only fits one product.
